International Office

You are interested in studying at the HBK Braunschweig?
Please click on ‘requirements’ to find out who to contact and what you need for your application.

The International Office at the HBK is responsible for ERASMUS and students who come to Braunschweig with a different scholarship.
For all other international students this office can only provide a small amount of help and assistance.
Therefore, we have here collected some useful information that will help and support you with your studies.

Terminology-specific German language course for first-year students

The HBK Braunschweig in cooperation with the language centre of the Technical University Braunschweig offers first-year students of basic study courses and, if possible, students of other programmes a terminology-specific German language course. In order to take this course proof of level DSH2 or linguistic proficiency on a similar level is required.

This course prepares you for your study course at an art university by teaching you the relevant vocabulary. During practical exercises you will also train for specific situations and subjects that might occur at the HBK.

At the same time a cultural training is woven into the small units that will prepare you for some of the specific features of the HBK.

This course is free of charge.

Intercultural training

For the first time in January 2011 the HBK in cooperation with the Federal Academy for Cultural Education will offer intercultural training for German and international students. This training will make studying in Germany easier and give German students the opportunity to prepare for a study visit or work stay in a foreign country.

Grant for the completion of studies

Students who have registered their final degree assignment are entitled to receive a grant for the completion of studies if they can prove that they are not adequately financially covered. The amount of the grant and the time limit vary. The minimum amount of the grant per month is € 250.00.

The International Office together with the Examination Office will contact students who have registered their final degree assignment in writing and will ask for submission of the necessary paperwork.

It is not possible for students to apply by themselves.
